The Symposium is a learned conference where papers are presented. As such we require contributors to produce a written paper as well as a presentation. The papers are published and copies provided to all delegates in either printed or electronic format and are subsequently made available for download after the event. The intellectual property rights and the copyright remain with the author(s) but you will grant JCT permission to publish your work.
Papers do not have to be long and we will give you guidance on what format is required. Obviously this a Traffic Signals Symposium so subject matter will predominantly be Traffic Signal related but papers on other related technology, research, policy and IT will be considered. If you are a supplier or manufacturer please be aware that overtly sales related papers will not make it onto the programme but we have no issue with you presenting case studies which showcase your products. Joint presentations from suppliers and Local Authorities are always welcome.
If you are thinking of submitting a paper proposal it may be worth checking out past papers in the Library on this website.
If you would like to submit a proposal for 2026 the first step is to provide a Working Title and a brief (one paragraph) synopsis by completing the form opposite. Once we have your initial proposal an independent committee will review it and if it is deemed of interest you will be invited to make a more detailed formal proposal and this will go back to the committee who will inform you of their decision and may commission you to proceed with Paper and Presentation. There will be strict deadlines for the production of the Paper and Presentation Material.
The Principal Speaker will attend free on the day of speaking. You may request a co speaker(s).
